The Letters of Jane Austen
Selected with an Introduction by R. Brimley Johnson
8vo, reprint, in the publisher's brown cloth boards with pasted on parchment label to spine, some knocking and wear to cloth and at top and bottom of spine, light scratching here and there to boards, slightly cocked, deckled edges, text block clean and unmarked, no dust-jacket, very good condition, Lincoln McVeagh, The Dial Press, New York, 1926.
A lovely vintage copy of Jane Austen's letters with the Johnson introduction. In two parts, consisting of letters to Cassandra (Part 1) and letters to Martha Lloyd, Frances Austen, Charles Austen, and her nieces and nephew, Fanny, Anna, Caroline, and Edward.
A truly wonderful read... Her inimical, ironic style is a joy and takes you right into the mind of this beloved author.
Published by the Dial Press, an imprint started by Lincoln MacVeagh, and not easy to find.
