8vo; First Edition in English, in the publisher’s cream cloth boards with a green decorative paper plate adhered to the upper center of front board with the title, and depicting a bird on a branch, black lettering on the spine, small smudge to the upper right corner of front board, and corner lightly bumped, former owner signature to FFE, green tinted upper edges, some light darkening to the rear of frontispiece but otherwise text block is clean and firm, with only marginal light browning here and there, all hinges good, in a near fine dust-jacket now protected in Brodart, only issues being some chipping to extremities and some rubbing, and the D in the author's name colored in black; An near fine copy of a very rare work, Farrar & Rinehart, New York, 1936.

Rare First Edition of Baroness Shidzue Ishimoto's account of her girlhood and marriage and in the early years of the 20th century. Renowned for her later work as a feminist and a proponent of women's health and with control in Japan. You can read more about her extraordinary life here:
