A rare antique coin-silver serving spoon by New York silversmith Bernard Wenman. Bright cut vine pattern along top of handle, pointed turn down with elaborate cursive monogram "WSP". Maker's mark BW to back of handle, with further stamp N.YORK.

Evidence of old repair where bowl meets handle (common in spoons of this age as it is the weakest point) dent and small tear in silver on left side of the bowl. Lovely Patina

A charming piece of Americana from Bernard Wenman, who was active around 1789-1834. Examples of his work can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
