Ask a question
A charming sterling silver Edwardian baby spoon, the handle decorated with a picture of Old Mother Hubbard and her dog, standing at the bare cupboard.
Sterling silver, stamped to the rear STERLING and with the mark for Sheffield, 1914.
In excellent condition bar a couple of tiny patches of tarnish to the back of the bowl. The spoon has been lightly buffed with a silver cloth but nothing abrasive.
Would make a wonderful christening/baptism/baby-shower gift that would be treasured forever, but could also be used as a sugar spoon. (In fact, the Wandering Poetess has a very similar one which she uses for this exact purpose!)
Measurements: Length 4 inches, width of bowl 1"
Weight: .5 ounce/13 grams
Condition: Very Good vintage.
And in case you have forgotten who Old Mother Hubbard was:
Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard,
To give the poor dog a bone;
But when she came there
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
