A lovely pair of antique cased glass vases, dating from the mid to late 1800s. Probably English in origin but may also be French or Bohemian.
Measuring 7.5 inches high, each example was originally molded in white opaline glass, then hand cased in pink. Handpainted enamel decorations of daisy flowers and leaves have been applied to the fronts, with further white dotted detailing both around the top of the foot and the widest point of the vase., and in the case of one, just below the rim. While the vases have been assembled as a pair, they are handmade objects and show some differences in decorative detail. When examined closely one is ever so slightly darker than the other, and the respective patterns are unique.
The condition of both vases is very good, although one has sustained a small flat chip to the pink glass just below the towards the rear. The damage does not extend to the white glass and it is not noticeable. Both glasses are a little rough around the inner rim from wear.
