A beautiful antique two-handled trembleuse orphan cup, made by the KPM Berlin porcelain company in the early 1800s. Exquisitely and vividly handpainted in a style reminiscent of Meissen's "white gold" of the mid-1700s. Panels on either side of the cup show harbor scenes-- a boat in full sail approaching a castle on a hill. While further small panels repeat the image in purple beneath the rim of the cup. Ornate gilt tooling, comprised of curlicues, scrolls, and leaves cover the rest of the porcelain surface. Some rubbing to the gilt around the rim, and glaze loss in one spot (see photos), and a little general rubbing to the gold here and there, but otherwise a beautiful piece of art and craftmanship. Marked to the bottom.

NO SAUCER OR LID.

Found by The Wandering Poetess in Darien CT. A rare and lovely piece.

Measurements: 2.75" high, 3" across rim
