A beautiful and rare antique French Lunéville majolica asparagus and artichoke platter
Dating from the late 19th century, this platter is a stunning example of French art nouveau faience. Ovoid in shape, with a symmetrical design of flowing turquoise and olives leaves, which surround spires of purple-tipped artichoke and asparagus. Unusually the outer leaves transform into chimera -- a charming detail. A beautiful piece perfect for display.
Condition is excellent. No visible chips or cracks.
Measures 13.5 x 10 inches.
Found by The Wandering Poetess at a brocante (flea market) on the Pont Louis-Philippe in Paris.
